五風荘(Gofuso)

Remains of a new teahouse in the old Kishiwada castle

After the Meiji Restoration, the mansion was built by Toshikichi Terada from 1929 to 10 years, and was renamed Gofuso in 1950.

A villa built by the conglomerate Terada family at the site of the new teahouse of Mr. Okabe, the owner of Kishiwada Castle.

On the site of about 7,000 square meters, a strolling garden with the beauty of the pond and the stonework of the gods spreads out.

The dignified building is a strolling garden with a splendid main house and three tea rooms.

The tea room is said to have been designed by Master Kizu, and in particular, the Yamatei is based on a beautifully shaped natural stone, and the tea room is built on it.

From the mansion of the main house, which is a collection of the best of Japanese architecture, you can overlook the splendid garden, and the calm pond, the mountain pavilion showing the elegant shape, the Yukimi lantern, etc. No.

There is also a restaurant.

The name “Gofu” is the five “winds” that refreshingly blow through Kishiwada.

I hope that both local people who love their hometown and those who are traveling for the first time will feel such a “wind”.

Gofuso, a tangible cultural property designated by Kishiwada City, was reopened in April 2019 as a restaurant where you can enjoy Japanese food slowly.

Please experience a luxurious time that can only be experienced at this “Gofuso”.
