今井灯火会(Imai toukakai:Imai Lighting Association)

Cultural heritage

It is a famous local event held every year in early August in “Imaicho” in Nara Prefecture.

This town has been selected as an “Important Traditional Buildings Preservation District” in the country, and you can enjoy the history and culture from ancient times.

The event will be held in “Imai-cho” where old folk houses are lined up, and more than 5,000 lights will be lined up to fantastically illuminate the traditional townscape that has continued since the Edo period.

Easy access from the nearest station, it is a popular event that is crowded with locals as well as tourists from inside and outside the prefecture.
