大阪くらしの今昔館(Osaka Museum of Housing and Living)

Tourist attractions

“Osaka Museum of Housing and Living” in the Osaka Museum of Housing and Living, facing the Tenjinbashisuji Shopping Street in 6-chome, Tenjinbashi, Kita-ku.

This is a museum of housing where you can experience the transition between the towns of Osaka in the Meiji, Taisho, and Showa eras from the Edo period.

The biggest highlight is the townscape that completely restored “Osaka” from the time of Tenpo (1830-1844) in the late Edo period, and the mechanism that changes the appearance of the town depending on the time of day.

It is also ideal as a learning place for children because there are many gimmicks for studying history, such as looking at the stories of women who have moved during the high-growth period.

Depending on the season, the decorations are changed according to the theme, which is quite spectacular.

There are also various events such as the reproduction of dishes such as conger rice, the treasure exhibition brought by the citizens, and the classical performing arts of Kamigata that you can enjoy in the tatami room.

There is also a guide for a volunteer guide who calls himself “Machiya”.
