A typical downtown area of Minami, Osaka
The name of Dotonbori is derived from the name of Yasui Doton, who excavated the river with his private fortune in 1612.
After that, according to the city planning of the Shogunate, the playhouses in Osaka were gathered on the south side of Dotonbori, and 47 water teahouses were permitted, and it prospered as the home of Japanese plays for a long time.
When a large number of people gathered in the play, the food shop naturally prospered.
Currently, only Shochikuza near Ebisubashi remains in the playhouse, but restaurants of various genres are lined up on the north side of Dotombori Dori, and it is bustling all year round.
If you want to enjoy Osaka gourmet, Dotonbori is recommended.
You can eat Osaka specialties such as takoyaki, kushikatsu, and okonomiyaki.
There is also a souvenir shop, so it’s a good idea to take a look around the souvenirs after enjoying Osaka gourmet food.
When you visit Dotombori, don’t forget to take a picture of the giant crabs of “Glico’s sign” and “Kani Doraku”.
In recent years, the river promenade, Tonbori Riverwalk, has also become popular, and it is recommended that morning drama fans visit Shochikuza, which became the model for “Ochoyan.”
