Osaka kitchen
Kuromon Market is a market with a long history that has continued since the Edo period, and handles various products such as fish, vegetables, fruits, and clothing.
It came to be called “Kuromon Market” because the gate of Enmyoji Temple near the market was black.
Summer pike conger and winter puffer fish are famous, and about 10% of fresh fish stores have a signboard specializing in puffer fish.
Under the arcade, which has a total length of about 580 meters, there are about 150 stores, and the street is always crowded with people.
There are many shops of various genres such as fresh fish stores, puffer fish and sponge specialty stores, cafeterias, vegetables and fruits, meat, pickles, dried foods, Japanese sweets and Western sweets, and the market is everywhere. It is full of vibrancy.
While it is popular as an “Osaka kitchen” where cheap and abundant ingredients are gathered, it is often visited by professionals such as Itamae because it has a good reputation for its high freshness.
At “Kuromon Ichiba”, there are plenty of food-walking menus that are typical of “Osaka, the city of eating down”.
Skewers of seafood at a fresh fish shop, fresh juice at a fruit shop, and matcha soft at a tea shop.
The delicious smell of the market makes me stop.
That is the charm and fun of “Kuromon Ichiba”. If you come here, be prepared to be full.
I introduced it briefly, but when you actually come to the site, you can experience the history and tradition more concretely with the locals.
