Shinsaibashi, the city I want to walk to now
Shinsaibashisuji Shopping Street is an arcade shopping street with various stores.
Shinsaibashisuji Shopping Street, which runs about 580m from north to south.
Its development dates back to the Edo period, and initially it was mainly bookstores, second-hand bookstores, prop stores, koto shamisen stores, and kimono dealers.
Since the Meiji era, it seems that fashionable stores such as watch stores and kimono stores have increased, including retail stores that handle imported goods.
In the Taisho and Showa eras, kimono dealers were transformed into department stores, and Western-style stores increased along with the shopping streets. It has reached.
In addition, we have regained the charm of Shinsaibashisuji, which is a mixture of long-established stores that have been in business for hundreds of years and clothing stores that incorporate the latest trends, by hosting the “Yukata Festival” in the shopping district and focusing on seasonal events. It’s on the way.
Right next to Shinsaibashisuji Shopping Street, you can see the famous “Glico Sign” and “Kani Doraku” in Dotombori.
I introduced it briefly, but when you actually come to the site, you can experience the history and tradition more concretely with the locals.
