It is a general company in the Hineno, Kaminogo, and Nagataki districts, and is an old shrine that was mentioned in the “Engi-shiki” and the domestic god name book.
The main deities are Emperor Jimmu’s father, Ugayafukiaezu no Mikoto, and his mother, Tamayori Hime no Mikoto.
One of the five Izumi Kuni shrines (Otori, Izumikunininomiya, Holy, Tsugawa, Hine), Hineno became a mansion of the Kujo family during the Kamakura period, and development progressed with the creation of reservoirs and waterways. It came to be called “Oizeki Daimeijin”, but in 1576, the shrine was burned down by Hideyoshi’s attack on Nerai.
The current shrine was rebuilt by Hideyori in 1602 (a designated cultural property of the prefecture).
The annual festival “Makura Matsuri” in May is a unique festival that sings the Gosha Ondo, carrying a pillow nobori with colorful decorative pillows on a bamboo pole that is about 5 meters long.
The Gosha Ondo Odori is dedicated to the “Yu Matsuri”, where we thank the blessings of the water in July and pray for a good harvest and no illness.
