In the Yamanakadani district of Hannan City, Osaka Prefecture, which is close to the border between Osaka Prefecture and Wakayama Prefecture, there was a post station on the Kishu Kaido that the Tokugawa Kishu family used to take turns in the Edo period.
Until the middle of the Showa era, it was crowded as a hot spring inn, but after that, the number of people coming and going was decreasing.
In the district, in order to revive the rich nature around Yamanakadani where the old townscape of Kishu Kaido remains, we started planting cherry blossoms on the riverbed of the Yamanaka River in the 1965s.
Nowadays, it has become famous for about 1000 splendid rows of cherry blossom trees, and many cherry blossom viewing visitors visit it, which greatly contributes to the revitalization of the area.
The best time to see is from late March to mid-April.
It is lit up at night and is very gorgeous.
Every year, the “Yamanakakei Sakura Festival” is held in the Wampaku Kingdom, and it is lively with various events.
In spring, many flowers such as “Yoshino cherry tree” and “Yamazakura” are in bloom as if they were competing.
There is a row of cherry blossom trees on the left after getting off the station, and the other side of the river across the bridge is also a beautiful row of cherry blossom trees.
In addition to spring, hydrangeas bloom under the cherry blossoms in early summer, cluster amaryllis bloom around the banks in late summer, and hagi flowers add vibrant colors in autumn, so you can enjoy the flowers of the four seasons.
I introduced it briefly, but when you actually come to the site, you can experience the history and tradition more concretely with the locals.
