Every May, “Imai Townscape Walk” is held in Imai Town, which has been selected as an important traditional buildings preservation district of the country, where you can enjoy the history and culture from ancient times.
The Imai Townscape Preservation Society plays a central role in this event, which is held throughout the town, and the entire town of Imai, where the townhouses are lined up, becomes the venue and is crowded with many people every year.
“Machikado Art” where works such as paintings and photographs decorate the town.
A “tea procession” that parades around the town as the people of the Edo period, led by Munehisa Imai, a tea master associated with Imai-cho.
“Imai Rokusai City” that reproduces the market that was held regularly six times a month during the Muromachi and Edo periods.
In addition, various events will be held, such as a tea ceremony where tea is served, an internal exhibition of important cultural properties, a koto performance, and an exhibition of floats.
I introduced it briefly, but when you actually come to the site, you can experience the history and tradition more concretely with the locals.
